KKP Collects 1.4 Tons of Garbage in the Love Month Program for the Sea of ​​Pacitan, East Java

 The Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) has managed to collect up to 1.4 tons of garbage at Teleng Ria Beach, Pacitan Regency, East Java, as part of the Ocean Love Month (BCL) program which aims to maintain the cleanliness of the aquatic ecosystem in the country.

"From the BCL program that we held on July 2, we managed to collect 1.4 tons of waste consisting of 1.1 tons of organic waste and 0.3 tons of inorganic waste. In accordance with the direction of Minister Trenggono, BCL will continue to be held as an effort to clean the sea from garbage, "said Director of Coastal and Small Islands Utilization of the Directorate General of Marine Spatial Management of the KKP, Muhammad Yusuf, quoted from Antara, Sunday, July 3.

He stated that more than 250 participants consisting of representatives of the government, local government, TNI/Polri, students, community/fishermen, Astrea Prima Indonesia Community Motorists, motorcycle communities from Yogyakarta took part in the action which was held at Teleng Ria Beach. .

KKP, he said, invites all stakeholders in Pacitan to jointly raise the spirit, educate the community to take an active role.

Yusuf also said that the Love of the Sea Month launched by the Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries at the Kick Off of the Month of Love of the Sea at Parangkusumo Beach, Yogyakarta at the end of January 2022, is an easy and effective initiative step in reducing plastic waste in the sea as well as in coastal areas and islands. small.

"We hope that this can be carried out by the Pacitan Regency Government continuously and becomes a routine agenda for the regional government. With clean beaches and healthy seas, we will show the world that Indonesia is wise in managing its seas," said Yusuf.

In line with the G20 Presidency world event with the theme "Recover Together, Recover Stronger", KKP continues to support through a blue economy policy that prioritizes community welfare through management and utilization of marine space while maintaining ecological resilience and economic resilience.

Based on the waste balance data for 2021 in the National Waste Management Information System Report (SIPSN), waste generation in Pacitan Regency in 2021 will reach 104,654.83 tons/year.

From this waste generation, managed waste reached 24,118.97 tons/year (23 percent) and unmanaged waste reached 80,535.86 tons/year (76.95 percent).

Therefore, to handle unmanaged waste, it is necessary to support and collaborate with all parties in handling waste at sea so that it becomes a habit and culture.

Previously, the Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Sakti Wahyu Trenggono at the 2022 United Nation Ocean Conference (UNOC) in Lisbon Portugal had emphasized that Indonesia was very serious and committed to creating marine health.
